Poster
Official poster of the 23rd Bucheon International Comics Festival
The poster for the 23rd Bucheon International Comics Festival was made by Lee Mu-gi, the writer who won Bucheon Comics Grand Prize with “Gobgae Jalan Jasik.” It expresses the message of “Healing, Solidarity, and Communication,” the keywords of this year’s festival, through the main characters of “Gobgae Jalan Jasik.”
The comic, which has transformed from paper form to a digital format in accordance with the changes of the era, is expressed as a “tablet” in the poster. It carries the meaning that the “readers” who read the comic communicate with comic’s characters through the tablet. The scene in which the characters on the tablet grab the reader’s hand and come out represents the integration between the reader and the characters, and the yellow butterfly symbolizes the hope and solidarity of the victims of Japan’s sexual slavery while the blue butterfly conveys the meaning of peace.
This poster features the fun figure of Mandeogi (BICOF character) drawn in the style of writer Lee Mu-gi. A message containing the hope to become a comics festival that can be enjoyed by everyone is expressed through the image of Mandeogi, who seems pleased with heart sunglasses and a flower-patterned swimming cap, lying on the edge of the tablet, chewing on a leaf, and relaxing, which shows the unique wit of the writer Lee Mu-gi.
